You Are Welcome Here!

No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here.
Here at the First Congregational Church of Stoughton, United Church of Christ, we celebrate the diversity of God’s creation and affirm the dignity and worth of every person as created in the image of God [Genesis 1:27].
Living in openness to the Voice of the Still Speaking God, and following the Greatest Commandment of Jesus Christ to love God and neighbor, we extend an extravagant welcome to all persons of every age, race, nationality, ethnicity, faith background, marital status, family structure, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, socio-economic status, physical or mental ability, affirming that we are all members of the family of God.
We invite all into the full life and ministry of our church, including worship, sacraments, rites, covenants, fellowship, leadership, employment, commitments, blessings, and joys.

Our Church

The First Congregational Church of Stoughton, gathered in 1744, is firmly rooted in tradition yet open to innovation and the leading of the Holy Spirit. We strive to follow Christ's command to love our neighbors as we care for one another, those in the Stoughton community and beyond. Our church is a place where it is safe to ask questions and admit doubt. We believe that God is still speaking to us and we encourage one another to notice and celebrate the ways that God is present in our lives. We are a congregation that affirms every person as a child of God and we welcome you and your family into our beloved community.
What To Expect At Worship

Our Sunday worship service is at 10:00 AM and lasts about an hour. When you arrive, you will be given a worship bulletin to help you follow the service. Our worship takes place in a relaxed, joyful atmosphere. You are encouraged to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable - no need to dress up unless you want to.
While children are always welcome to stay with their parents for worship, child care is available in our Children’s Nursery in the lower level of the church for children 3 and under. Pastor Mary offers a children’s message called “A Time For All,” after which the older children leave with their teachers for Church School.
We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of the month and occasionally during special services. On Communion Sundays, Pastor Mary stays in the sanctuary after worship for what we call “Healing
Prayers.” This is a time where you may meet privately with Pastor Mary to share what’s on your mind and have her pray with you. After worship we gather in the Fellowship Hall for light refreshments and conversation. We are fully handicapped accessible and would love to welcome you to our church community.
